"Waiting Tables - Gifted To Serve"
The church was never meant to be an audience gathered around a few gifted people while everyone else simply watches. Scripture gives us a very different picture: the church is a body, and every follower of Jesus has been given grace, gifts, and opportunities to strengthen that body and serve others. God has not only invited us to receive from His church—He has equipped us to help build His church.
In Waiting Tables, we’ll explore what it means to move from consumer to contributor and from simply attending church to actively participating in the life and mission of the body of Christ. Through Paul’s teaching on spiritual gifts, the story of Stephen, and the example of Jesus Himself, we’ll see that ministry is not limited to platforms, microphones, or public moments. Serving, giving, encouraging, leading, showing mercy, opening our homes, meeting practical needs, and making room for others are all ways the life of Jesus becomes visible through His people. There is no insignificant ministry when our lives are offered to God. Whether we are standing on a stage or literally waiting tables, the same Spirit is at work—forming us, empowering us, and using what He has placed in us for the good of others. There is a place at the table for everyone, but there is also work around the table for everyone. We have been gifted to serve.
