The Parables Pt 18. - The Parable Of The Wicked Tenants

Aug 29, 2025    Patrick Aube

In the final week of our Parables of Christ series, we look at one of Jesus’ most striking and confrontational stories—The Parable of the Wicked Tenants (Matthew 21:33–46). Told in the temple courts during His last week before the cross, this parable reveals the tragedy of Israel’s leaders rejecting the Son and the triumph of God exalting Him as the cornerstone of His new covenant people.

The vineyard represents the covenant promises God made to Abraham and fulfilled in Christ. The tenants—Israel’s leaders—were entrusted with those promises but twisted stewardship into self-serving control. The prophets were rejected, the Son was crucified, but through His rejection we are made heirs of the promise.

Join us as we discover how this parable challenges us today: to live as true heirs; to embrace faith as the mark of true Israel; and to bear fruit as God’s people, rooted in Christ, the cornerstone.
